Cultures of Thinking - Habits of Mind

All “Learning is a process of Thinking” therefore, Kingswood Primary School invests in developing a strong Cultures of Thinking environment. With professional connections to Harvard University’s Project Zero Classroom and as an internationally accredited Habits of Mind school, we remain open, and strive for continuous improvement to provide our students with ‘opportunities to shine’.

Our commitment to building a Culture of Thinking is recognised and celebrated. In the past, we have hosted an annual ‘Learners as Thinkers’ conference.

Key Understandings have been established to “Build a Culture of Thinking as the Foundation for Success”.

  1. Powerful Learning is enriched through Curiosity, Critical and Creative Thinking.
  2. Cultural Forces and Visible Thinking is reflected in curriculum planning and delivery.
  3. The Habits of Mind dispositions support challenges.
  4. Student Voice and Agency empowers students to create, engage in, and evaluate their learning.

Our students’ creativity, and engagement will be further developed in 2022 as we begin implementation of a P-6 Curiosity Continuum that may include ‘Play-Based Learning’, Tinker Time, Maker Spaces, Genius Hour, MakeyMakey, and Success for All.

As our school song suggests “We have it all here at Kingswood”.
