At Kingswood, we prioritise academic success and student well-being. Our dedicated teachers use explicit teaching to deliver high-quality literacy, numeracy, and well-being programs, closely monitoring progress to help every child thrive. Our strong reputation attracts 43% of students from outside our local area.
At Kingswood Primary School, we are proud to deliver daily systematic synthetic phonics lessons as part of our commitment to building strong early reading skills. These structured sessions help children learn to identify individual sounds in words and blend them together, laying the foundation for confident and fluent reading. To support learning at home, all students will receive decodable readers to take home each week. These books are carefully matched to their current phonics knowledge, giving children the opportunity to practise sounding out and blending words, and helping families take an active role in their child’s reading journey.
At Kingswood, students enjoy a rich and varied curriculum, including specialist programs in Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts, Science, and Japanese. Our renowned kitchen garden program inspires a love of cooking and a deeper understanding of where food comes from. We’re committed to developing the whole child through diverse, hands-on learning experiences that enhance their critical thinking. Cutting-edge technology further enriches learning for every student.
Our beautiful campus features dedicated arts spaces, a state-of-the-art gym with a performance stage, vibrant gardens, and dynamic outdoor play areas. With a strong focus on well-being, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children are empowered to explore, question, and grow.
Student wellbeing is fundamental to our educational approach and integrated into all aspects of school life. We hold high expectations for our students, encouraging them to embody the values of Respect, Resilience, and Empathy, which are central to our Positive Behaviour Supports framework. To proactively develop essential life skills, students participate in weekly Wellbeing lessons focused on personal and social capabilities. Dedicated support is readily available. Our Leading Teacher for Disability Inclusion and Wellbeing provides specialised guidance. Furthermore, we enhance our supportive environment with unique resources, including two trained Wellbeing Dogs, a newly refurbished Wellbeing Hub, and Year 5 Play Leaders.
We’re excited to offer a 5-week Transition Program during November and December, designed to support both children and parents as they prepare for the start of primary school. Held across a combination of Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the program
gently introduces prep children to the school environment, helping them build confidence and familiarity. At the same time, parents can take part in a parallel program that offers practical guidance and insights.
